Robust Construction and Machine Base

The table, headstock, machine base, and carriage are constructed from high-strength FC-30 to FC-35 castings. This robust foundation ensures stability and durability during operation. The guideways are continuously lubricated by a hydrodynamic hydrostatic lubrication system, which minimizes friction between components and contributes to improved surface finish on workpieces.

Advanced Wheelhead Design
#

The wheelhead spindle is engineered with a hydrodynamic bearing and crafted from Ni-CR-Mo alloy, providing both strength and optimal grinding performance. Both the wheelhead and carriage benefit from the hydrodynamic hydrostatic lubrication system, further enhancing smooth operation. The spindle and its motor are connected via an indirect design, effectively reducing strain on the motor and extending its service life.

Precision Headstock Functionality

The headstock features infinitely variable RPM control through a frequency motor, allowing for precise speed adjustments. Repositioning is simplified with an air assist device mounted beneath the wheelhead. A spring-driven trip dog ensures smooth startup and consistent rotation of the workpiece. For different models, the S40 and M60 utilize live and dead centers, while the L85 is equipped with a rotating center.

A FANUC CNC controller automates the roll grinding process, streamlining operations through a user-friendly interface. Operators can easily select cutting programs from memory to execute sequential grinding tasks. The system supports various crown grinding profiles, including base arc, sine, cosine, CVC, and combined arc curves. Camber values are programmable, and integrated network functionality allows for efficient data input and output, as well as machine parameter management and maintenance.

Tailstock Versatility and Accessibility
#

Tailstock repositioning is facilitated by an air assist device located at its base. Workpiece alignment is achieved through tailstock adjustment, and a diamond wheel dresser is conveniently mounted on the side for easy access. For handling extremely heavy workpieces, an optional revolving 4-jaw chuck tailstock is available.
